Elisa’s Best Beauty Hacks

When we flip through our favorite magazines and follow celebrities on Instagram, we often ask ourselves “how do these celebrities look so perfect?” Well, for one, most of them have an around-the-clock personal stylist and make-up artist…then there’s always—gasp—airbrushing. Whether you work, are a stay-at-home mom, or juggle both, most of us do not have a personal stylist or the time to achieve that perfect look.

Ladies, I am with you! So I’ve compiled a list of my top 3 beauty hacks that will help give you a red-carpet ready look in no time:

1

Heat your eyelash curler with a blow dryer

I have mastered gluing on my fake lashes {click to watch my how-to video!} . But, falsies aren’t for everyone! Try this simple trick to give your lashes a boost. Similar to the effect of a curling iron for your hair, heating your lash curler helps improve results, making your lashes longer and fuller. Just heat the lash curler and use as normal. Don’t forget to apply your favorite mascara after. To get that long look, I swear by my Shu Uemura eyelash curler and my new favorite mascara is Tarte: Lights, Camera, Lashes!

2

Plump your lips with peppermint oil

Are you looking for the Kylie Jenner pout? If you are leery about using lip plumpers or venoms, peppermint oil is a great natural alternative. Put a dab of peppermint oil onto exfoliated lips to increase circulation, creating a fuller look. Seal those kissable lips with a bold shade of lipstick. NARS is always a great choice and comes in a number of fun, trendy colors. I recently discovered liquid lipstick at Erica Cole Salon that is vegan, kosher, and gluten free…and stays on all day!

3

Secure your bobby pins with dry shampoo

Dry shampoo is a great way to preserve second-day hair and for me to get some volume into my super straight locks! But, did you know that it’s also a great way to keep your bobby pins in place? A little spray of your favorite dry shampoo will keep your up-do from falling flat. Big Sexy Hair’s dry shampoo is my personal favorite (and you can sometimes score it at a discount at Marshalls and TJ Maxx).
